# New Macbook setting Problems and Solutions

1. while installing homebrew, I encounted this error.

fatal: unable to access '<https://github.com/Homebrew/brew/>': Failed to connect to github.com port 443 after 75032 ms: Couldn't connect to server

Since I am in China mainland, I have no access to the website of <https://www.github.com>. I was using VPN to visit the overseas sites.&#x20;

I found this solution and it helped.

What I had to do is just running the following two commands.

```
git config --global http.proxy http://127.0.0.1:7890
git config --global https.proxy http://127.0.0.1:7890
```
